Pick two people and start testing!

Select up to two members of your household (age 8 and up) to test. Prioritize those with the most contact outside the home and those who are not fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have not had COVID-19 already.

Start testing right away. Don’t wait until you have symptoms to use your tests.

Choose your twice-a-week testing schedule:

Sunday Thursday or Tuesday Friday

You decide the right two days for you!

Be sure to space tests at least one day apart. Keep testing twice a week until you’ve used all tests in your test kit.

Instructions about how to test and see your results are included in your test kit. You can also be guided through the testing process and receive testing reminders by using our Digital Assistant.

If your results are:

(choose one)

YOU ARE LIKELY CONTAGIOUS

A positive test means it is highly likely you have COVID-19 and could spread it to others. Even if you have no symptoms and feel good, you should assume you are contagious.

ISOLATE YOURSELF

To protect others, stay home (except for medical care), isolate yourself, wear a mask around others, avoid sharing personal household items, and wash or disinfect anything you touch. Learn how to isolate.

CONTACT YOUR HEALTHCARE PROVIDER

Seek follow-up care from your healthcare provider, as additional testing may be necessary. Your healthcare provider will work with you to determine how best to care for you based on your test results, along with your medical history and your symptoms. See the full list of COVID-19 symptoms and emergency warning signs.

You can also call the Washtenaw County Health Department at 734-544-6700 for available resources in your area.

REPORT RESULT TO PUBLIC HEALTH

There are many benefits to you and to your community when you confidentially report your results to public health. We encourage you to report your results quickly and easily through the Say Yes! COVID Test Digital Assistant or contact the Washtenaw County Health Department at 734-544-6700.

TEST ANOTHER HOUSEHOLD MEMBER

Stop using the at-home tests and give the remaining tests to another household member. They should test twice a week until the tests run out or they test positive.

CONTINUE TESTING

Testing negative does not mean you are less likely to be infected in the future. Continue testing at home twice a week.

KEEP UP SAFE PRACTICES

Continue hand washing, staying 6 feet away from others, and wearing a mask to defend against the spread of COVID-19. See how to protect yourself and others.

NEGATIVE IS NOT A GUARANTEE

Soon after being infected, you may not have enough virus in your body for the test to find it. This is why frequent at-home testing is recommended. These COVID-19 tests, just like pregnancy tests and flu tests, also have a small error rate or chance of giving a false negative result.

LISTEN TO YOUR BODY

If you test negative but are experiencing COVID-19−like symptoms such as fever, cough, and/or shortness of breath, seek follow-up care with your healthcare provider to discuss options for confirming your result with a lab-based test. Also, take active measures including isolating yourself to defend against the spread of COVID-19. See the full list of COVID-19 symptoms and emergency warning signs.
